Earths Genesis
Earth’s Violent Beginnings.
Over the course of 4.5 billion years of evolution, most of that time has been a violent past. Earth is approximately 25,000 miles around, and is covered by 2/3 water and 1/3 land. It was a world of ICE, Fire, raging seas and poisonous gas, a place where only a few extremaphytes could survive some of the harshest conditions imaginable.
in 1788 in scotland, Farmer James Hutton discovered rocks underneath his farm. His observations lead to the study of rocks around the world and to the notion that the earth is billions of years old.
A Scientist named Kelvin claimed that the earth was covered by Molten rock miles deep , anad was frequently struck by meteorites . Thorium, Uranium, and Potassium were then in abundance , and their decay kept the heat very high for a long time. This decay is quite constant, and led to the discovery of the true age of the earth. Over hundreds of millions years Uranium will decay and become a metal called lead.
4.4 Billion Years ago
Gradual cooling of the core allowed for rock solidification, and water was forming on the surface. Condensing water formed and it rained for millions of years forming a water world. Underwater volcanoes and magma formed Basaltic rock, much denser and heavier than granite. It was only formed underwater.
4.0 Billions years ago
90% of the earth was covered in oceans, iron rich, with a carbon dioxide rich atmosphere and a 200 degree farenheit surface tempurature.
3.4 Billion years ago
Green oceans covered the earth, and granite based continents were forming above the oceans. Single Cell organisms are born.
2.5 Billion Years ago
Single Cell organisms evolve from the ocean floor, and thrive, forming stromatilites on the surface. These bacterial organisms create oxygen , and their waste product is rock. Stromatalite formations grow slowly feediing on light energy, and grow up to 2 feet high, and covered the earth. By turning sunlight into oxygen, the atmosphere was no longer carbon dioxide heavy, and the oceans and sky turned blue.
